The Dirt on Pregnancy Weblog

It has been 5 months since my last period and 5 months since my last drink of alcohol. It hasn’t been that hard avoiding alcohol and I really enjoy never having to deal with being hungover. I also have enjoyed watching people act like fools when they’re drunk and driving everyone home safely. It’s certainly eye-opening as well though knowing that I used to be that annoying girl who wouldn’t shut up at the party. But, even so, there have been a handful of days, where I just want a drink. My husband had the day off today so we met up for lunch. It was 60 degrees outside and there was a table of young guys drinking a bucket of beers. For some reason, I just really wanted to have a beer too. I call it “Day Drinking” and there are only a handful of days throughout the year where I partake in that activity and today I really wanted to have a beer, skip work and hang out at the park. I also really miss sharing a bottle of wine with my husband at a nice restaurant or at home on a friday night while staying in.

After looking at the bucket of beers, I just took a big gulp of my water and let out a sigh. There will be plenty of years ahead of me to do some Day Drinking, I’ll just have to wait. But, you better believe I’ll be having an O’Douls in a frosty mug tonight just to feel like I’m drinking. That usually does the trick until the next time…
